Staffing update for Academic Year 2020/21
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to inform you that I will be leaving Bobby Moore Academy in the summer term. This has not been an easy decision to make, nor is it one that I have taken lightly. Leading this school has been one of the greatest honours of my life and, having been appointed almost two years ago, I am immensely proud of the school that we have built.
This year is a significant one for the school: Ofsted will visit us for the first time, and I am committed to guiding the school through that process. It is my belief that the inspectors will see what I and my staff see every day: a happy and safe school environment, filled with excellent teachers developing the knowledge and thinking of our young people, tirelessly supported by a dedicated team of back office staff who are among the very best human beings I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We will, of course, be counting on your continued support through this process.
Reputationally, the school is very well thought of and we have increased our number of applications year on year. This is due in no small part to the exceptional behaviour of our pupils, who consistently display their respect, composure and thoughtfulness, and the expertise of our teachers. I have always maintained that the end goal of education should be about furnishing young people with choice. I know that, in the time I have been here, we have set up our young people for success, and given them the platform to make informed choices when the time to make them comes. They are an extraordinary group of young people and are the reason that many of our staff, me included, love our school so much.
A recruitment process ran before Christmas, led by DRET and the Academy governors, to select my successor. I am pleased to say that an appointment has been made and a press release containing further details is due imminently. It goes without saying that the new principal has my full backing and that the handover process will be a smooth one. Mr Patterson and Ms Moustafa will continue to lead the Secondary and Primary phases respectively.
I believe that Bobby Moore Academy has the capacity, with your continued support, to become one of the very best schools in the country. I will be cheering it on from the sidelines.
Dr L Foley
